"Yoga Therapy is not physical therapy with a few OMs thrown in." - Kim Orr, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT Founder, Contemplative Practice Yoga®
Yoga Therapy supports healing using the time-honored tools of yoga. There is a growing need for this integrative health care practice, for skilled, compassionateprofessionals trained in the application of these yogic tools.
The growing interest of conventional western medical providers in incorporating yoga as a complementary intervention is also driving the need for Yoga Therapists.
If yoga has been an integral part of your life -if you have a long-standing, consistent yoga and meditation practice, if you are a health care professional or experienced yoga teacher, and if you have a genuine passion in helping people heal, Yoga Therapy is a way for you to be of service in the world.
Think about the way that yoga has benefitted you - maybe you have rehabilitated a painful condition, or lifted your mood and energy.Perhaps yoga has helped youquiet a busy and anxious mind, or helped you to sleep more soundly.Yoga may have helped you maintain a level of physical and emotional balance.Or, you’ve discovered the healing power of connection in group yoga classes and with a beloved teacher.
Relieving suffering - physical, mental, and emotional - is at the heart of yoga.Yoga Therapists apply yoga philosophy and tools as a means to relieve the suffering of their clients.
This Yoga Therapy training and certification is a program which teaches you how to integrate gentle Hatha yoga practices, restorative yoga, guided meditation, and breath practices to support clients in self-healing and wellness.
The program is primarily experiential, and includes discussion, lecture, group dynamics, and personal enrichment. You willlearn foundational yogic techniques, tools, and theories.
You will also experience these therapeutic effects in your own body, which allows for deeper integration and therapeutic understanding.
Throughout the training you will develop your own therapeutic yoga practice for self-care.
This program is for you if you are an experienced yoga teacher with E-RYT 200, or if you are a health care professional with a consistent yoga practice who wants to learn how to integrate yoga therapy for your patients.
Serious, long-term yoga practitioners interested in becoming Yoga Therapists will also be considered. All applications include a preliminary interview as part of the application process.
This program is not for you if you are new to yoga, or intend to combine energy healing modalities (such as Shamanism, Reiki, Yuen, Angel Healing, crystal healing, etc.) with yoga therapy.
