Yoga can support your healing process by complementing existing therapies, helping your body’s intrinsic ability to heal itself. Working one-on-one in a private setting, and with therapeutic intention, the best of Yoga traditions and Hatha Yoga sequences are used in conjunction with breathwork, meditation and fundamental principles of conventional medical wisdom and assessment to create an individualized, therapeutic series of yoga sessions, designed to meet your specific need, condition, or injury.
After working for 17 years as an RN in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and as a busy parent of 3, I developed chronic pain in my back, neck and knees, as well as burnout from the intensity and high stress demands of working in an ICU. I found yoga as a way to return to a state of balance, both physically and emotionally. The physical postures of yoga continue to help me mitigate the chronicity of instability and weakness in my low back from years of heavy and improper lifting. Incorporating the practices of meditation, breathing and mindfulness support me on a daily basis.
I have been working as a Yoga Therapist with private clients for the past 15 years. (*This advanced training and certification as a Contemplative Practice Yoga® Therapist and C-IAYT is specific to Yoga Therapy, and is derived from my advanced studies in Yoga Therapy and my education and experience in health care settings as a Registered Nurse. It is not derived from my status as an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance.) The unique blend of my health care background, professional nursing experience and ongoing yoga therapy studies and teaching guides my integrative and intuitive approach to Yoga Therapy. I work collaboratively with physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, body workers, and other professionals in healthcare. Utilizing Contemplative Practice Yoga® principles, traditional Hatha yoga, basic pranayama (breathwork), healing touch, mindfulness and meditation practices, in combination with traditional and current clinical assessment and client care planning, I work with you in a personalized series of sessions, complementing your therapeutic work with other professionals. I assist clients with acute and chronic pain, musculo-skeletal issues, psychological struggles, and other emotional and mental issues through Yoga Therapy.
My private Yoga Therapy practice allows me to work with you at various locations in the greater Sacramento area, as well as in the privacy of my home studio. Invite balance, energy and inner peace into your life through the practice of yoga.
